Before starting my article titled, “What is Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)? What It Contributes To You?”, I would like to tell you why I started this blog and what I want to contribute to you.
We all face certain challenges in our lives and get stuck in certain cycles. At such times we have often felt lonely.
Or we postpone our dreams for the sake of a sense of security and reach an age when we think we can no longer do it, and we constantly blame ourselves for the waste of time we have experienced.
Others are raised by their parents as princes or princesses and never find the courage to step out of their comfort zone.
And sometimes life – as it did for me – takes your loved ones away from you early and you find yourself in a struggle much earlier in the journey of life.
I am starting this blog so that people do not feel alone in the situations they experience, do not think that they are constantly wasting their time and do not confine themselves in their comfort zones and become embittered with life.
I want you to join me on this journey and make new breakthroughs in your life and push yourself to do so.
My stories, ideas, observations and techniques may not suit you one hundred percent.
However, if I can make you feel happier, more energetic, explain to yourself what you want and why you want it, and help you focus, I will be happy😊
Before starting my blog, I would like to engrave in your mind a quote from Tony Robbins that I think you should always keep in mind:
THE SECRET TO LIVING IS GIVING!
Please feel free to contact me via social media or my e-mail address! I look forward to listening to your experiences, contributing to your new life journey and learning from you😊
After briefly talking about why I am starting this blog and what I want to contribute to you, I can now begin my first blog post!
In this article, I would like to give you detailed information about NLP and help you understand how learning and practicing NLP can benefit you and help you transform your life.
Now sit up, lift your shoulders and take a deep breath! Here we go!

What is NLP?
If we first talk about the history of NLP, which stands for “Neuro Linguistic Programming”, the birth of NLP started in the 1970s with the work of linguist Prof. Dr. John Grinder and psychotherapist and computer expert Dr. Richard Bandler on the methods of three psychotherapists who were very successful in their fields and brought about significant changes in human behavior.
These psychotherapists were Dr. Milton H. Erickson, considered one of the best in the world of modern hypnotherapy, Virginia Satir, who achieved outstanding success in family therapy, and Fritz Perls, the founder of Gestalt Therapy.
The popularity of NLP rapidly increased and spread around the world with the rapid and precise results they achieved in the areas where they applied the methods and behavioral patterns they created as a result of their studies.
Even today, NLP is still developing with the contributions of different researchers and its application areas are gradually increasing.
But have you ever wondered what NLP stands for “Neuro Linguistic Programming”?
In fact, the whole mystery of NLP lies in its name.
Now let’s examine all the words separately and understand what exactly NLP is about and what it can add to you.
Neuro :
The word Neuro (nerve) is related to our senses of sight, hearing, feeling, taste and smell, which we use to perceive the external world and internal thinking processes.
In other words, this part deals with how our brain reacts to an image, a word, an event, the food we eat or the environment we are in through our senses.
NLP teaches us how to be aware of our experiences from the outside world and our inner senses, how to filter them through techniques such as reframing, how to direct them and how to use them as good tools for our desired results or goals.
In this way we learn to regulate our reactions through our senses and make a habit of keeping our motivation, passion and hunger alive.
Linguistic :
The word language, as the name suggests, represents the role that language plays both in communicating with other people and in communicating with ourselves and organizing our thoughts.
In order to direct our experiences from the outside world or our internal thought processes in the direction of our own goals, we benefit from the techniques that NLP has produced for language.
In this section, NLP teaches us how to use everyday language to think better, to develop more successful behaviors, to be aware of our communication models with ourselves and other people, and how to change these models to achieve our goals and how to replace them with new communication models.
Programming :
The word programming is about how we can program our own thoughts and behaviors with NLP techniques, how we can develop these programs and how we can turn them into beliefs and identities and use them in line with our goals, just like a computer program.
NLP teaches us how to manage our thoughts and behaviors with the right techniques, how to regulate our beliefs and values, and ultimately how to better define ourselves in line with our goals by expanding the identity we have created.
In this process, when we internalize our identity and beliefs, what we want and why we want it with NLP, we have achieved a great momentum that will keep us alive and force us to move forward continuously.
In summary, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) examines how our brain interprets the signals it receives and how these interpretations affect what we do, that is, how our thoughts affect our behavior.
By examining how our brains process the experiences and informations we receive, NLP techniques help us to look at our thoughts and feelings as things we can control, rather than things that happen to us.
In other words, NLP helps us learn how to change the way we think, feel and behave by changing our focus.
Where is NLP Used?
NLP techniques are also used today in many areas of therapy, including the treatment of depression and anxiety, the treatment of phobias and panic attacks, talk therapy, and the development of skills such as personal development, public speaking, sales, and leadership.
NLP techniques are action-oriented. Unlike classical therapies, NLP here focuses on the how instead of the why.
How can you react differently to your thoughts and feelings? How can you adapt your communication style to the situation? How can you change your mindset so that life happens for you and not to you?
In this way, it changes the person’s map of the world by quickly reframing to solve the problem and focuses on changing their thinking and behavior systems in an action-oriented way.
So, you can use NLP techniques to overcome any phobia, get rid of the cloud of bad thoughts in your head, feel better and more adequate, have stronger beliefs, define a new identity for yourself and finally achieve what you want and continuously improve.
We are going on a long and fun journey with lots of exercises.
And one last thing I would like to remind you here is to share with your partner, children, relatives or friends what you will learn, apply and add to yourself on this journey with me and help them grow too, believe me, this will be good for you the most😊
Be full of energy! Believe in yourself! Live with passion!
Take care of yourself!
